Roopkund Lake is a high elevation lake, which is located at the height of 5029 mts at Junargali, in the lap of the Himalayan mountains Nanda Ghunti (6310 mts) &Trishul (7120 mts). Also recognised as Skeleton Lake, it is popular for centuries-old human skeletons, which lay in and around the lake. These skeletons can be seen when the ice dissolves throughout the summer.

Roopkund is located in the Chamoli region of Uttarakhand. The Roopkund trail is a moderate to a complicated sort of trek that takes us through the forests, waterfalls and high-altitude meadows of Bedni and Auli Bugyal. A scenic view of Trishul and Nanda Ghunti peaks can be seen from the region.

Kathgodam / Rishikesh – Lohajung
We will pick you early morning from Kathgodam Railway Station. In the day, we commence our journey from Kathgodam / Rishikesh to Lohajung (7700 ft), breakfast & lunch will be served en route. You can enjoy the numerous hill stations of the Kumaon area as well on the tracks, you will also see a sight of Uttarakhand as you pass through hills, villages, rivers and hairpin bends. Travel distance is 226 km from Kathgodam, 263 km from Rishikesh and 288 km from Haridwar, which takes 9-10 hours to reach Lohajung. Night stay will be in a guesthouse in Lohajung.
Lohajung – Dinda Village / Gairoli Patal
Good Morning Himalayas! Get set for the trek, marvellous views of Pindar valley and dignified Nanda Ghunti peak awaits us. On the second day, we depart to Didina village via a motorable road and cover 7 km. Then, the trek begins from Kuling, a small artistic village with spectacular beauty. First, 2.5 km will be a slope down to Neel Ganga. After passing Neel Ganga, there will be a 3 km ascent and it will take around 4-5 hours to reach Didina village. Overnight accommodation will be at the homestay or in the camps.
Didna Village / Gairoli Patal - Ali Bugyal – Bedni Bugyal
On the third day of our trip, after breakfast at Didina village, we commence our trekking towards Bedni Bugyal. First, we ascend to Ali Bugyal, which will take approximately 2 hours, and the trail moves through the thick forest where one can hear the chirping of birds and observe various sorts of high elevation flora and fauna. Lunch will be in Ali meadow, which presents an unbelievable view of the neighbouring valley. Trek to Bedni Bugyal is slightly scaled but not hard. A trek of 1.5 to 2 hours will take us to Bedni Bugyal. Overnight stay will be in tents at Bedni Bugyal.
Bedni Bugyal – Patarnachaaniya
Wake up to the mesmerizing view of Bedni Bugyal and examine the vicinity. Bedni Kund and the view of Patti KaDanda cannot be avoided. According to the Hindu religion, the four Vedas were written at Bedni Bugyal. After breakfast, we depart to Pattarnachaniya, which is just 5 km from here that takes 2-3 hours to reach. 'Pattar' means 'stone' and 'Nachaniya' means a dancer. It is considered that these dancers were turned to stone by the curse of goddess Nanda. At Patter nachaniya, one can endure the 360-degree breath-taking view full of attractions like Nanda Ghunti and Trishul peaks, waterfalls and ponds between meadows. Overnight stay will be in tents.
Patarnachaaniya – Bhagwabasa
Today trek start towards Baguwabasa, 6 km from Patter nachaniya (4-5 hours). After breakfast we climb toKailawaVinayak top, tough ascend about 3.5 km. from KalwaVinayak landscape is unique Himalayan range peaks, Rivers, Waterfalls. After having lunch trek will start to Bhagwabasa (2 km).
Bhagwabasa – Roopkund Lake – Return Patarnachaaniya
Early morning hot tea & start trek to Roopkund, Breakfast on the way because early morning view is clear, later clouds cover the mountains. Trek is pretty hard today ascend 3.5km up to Roopkund & 400-meter Junargali Dhar(5029 meters). Roopkund is a small lake in a glacier, Human skeleton is there several years old, some skeleton flesh can be found which lies beneath the snow. From Junargali close view of Trishuli& Nanda Ghughuti&ShilaSamudra. Junargali is the last point of this trek, Return to Patanachaniya via Bhakuwabasa&KailwaVinayak, halt for overnight.

Enjoy the morning view hot Breakfast & start moving towards Lohajung via Bedni Bugyal, Garolipatal& wan village. Today from Bedni bugyal another route to Lohajung, passes through thick forest, Giant trees, Flora & Fauna, Neel Ganga & a cultural village wan, people of this village is a very active worker. There is LatuDevata main Temple, every year villager organize worship. From wan to Lohajung motorable (20 km), a night stay in Guesthouse.
Drive from Lohajung – Kathgodam/Rishikesh
Today is the last day of this trek, Leave to kathgodam (226 km)/ Rishikesh (263 km), Lunch & Breakfast on the way. After passing Gwaldam of the Kumaon region begins on the way famous places Baijnath, Almora, Kausani can be seen.
